I have a 06 chevy 3500 silverado with a duramax diesel, has 78,000 miles & ran perfect until the check engine light came on. it ran a little rough so I took it to the dealer they said it was the egr valve. they replaced it & the truck ran fine for a few days then the check engine came on again, took it back to the dealer. now they said the computer is the problem & needs to be replaced. truck ran fine for a week, then the fuel gauge would drop to empty with the light on. back to the dealer & they said its the fuel transfer sensor that was bad. they replaced it & again the truck ran fine but for only 3 days until that light came on again & back to the dealer now they tell me the cam shaft sensor is the problem. replaced that & it ran great but only for a week, went out to start it today & oh yes the check engine light came on again & this time I drove to auto zone & they checked out the codes & it came up ECM failure....its back to the dealer & they are not sure whats wrong with it now....PLEASE HELP !!!

well ecm is engine control modules , check the owners manual for location of the ECM in your particular vehicle check the wire harness and connections make sure PROM pins in the connectors arent bent or broken off if so get that replaced. never have any power on to the vehicle when working on the ecm maybe the ECM fuse also

thanks for the reply tenletters...I took it to the dealer & they said it was the fuel injectors causing a short...this was a $6,000.00 repair !! have'nt run the truck yet, just hope it solved this mess...thanks again
