The rear drivers side break light/turn signal on my 2004 ford explorer wont work after getting water in the bottom of the fixture. The taillight above it on the same side is fine. I have replaced the bulb, the socket, and the piece that plugs directly into to back of the socket and I still cant get it to light up at all. Also my battery wont stay charged for more than a day with out driving. I dont know if the two problems are related but the problem with the battery started first. Then when I noticed the turn signal wasnt working and saw that there was water in the fixture I thought that the water was some how completeing a circuit and then shorted out the socket, but after replacing the bulb, the socket and the piece the socket plugs into and neither problem being fixed at all I really dont know what to do please help!!!

I am no mechanic but I just had a recent problem with my sons 95 celica. The water in the brakelight caused a fuse to blow and it caused instruments not to work and even made it look like it needed an alternator as the battery wouldn't charge. I took it in and it was a simple freakin fuse! Please check them out...might could be the fix.

Thanks for your input. I have checked the fuses and they appear to be fine. I'm thinking it could might be a relay switch but I dont know how to check those. Any other advise is greatly appreciated. Hammer Time, Loren Champlain Sr. any suggestions?

ishboo; You'll need a test light to see if you are actually getting power and ground to the socket for that particular bulb. If not, and assuming that you don't have a broken wire between the cabin and the socket, I'd suspect the mult-function switch for testing.
