brake lights

pulling me hair out citroen xsara 2001 16v petrol got no brake lights checked fuse double checked bulbs help please

These aren't sold to the US so just some generic things to check: Brake light switches are usually at the lever of the brake pedal and should check the power (12V +) get to that switch and when brake pedal pushed comes out with a common test light which is a poker screwdriver and wire with alligator clip that lights up handle thing as a tool. Other is reverse that and check bulb sockets or wiring at the bulbs for presence of both power and ground. To get a ground to light up a test light you put 12V from the car to that alligator clip. IDK - bulbs can also look good and not be and tested to light with jumper wires out of the car, T

thank you for that took out the brake light switch did contenuity test no good new switch put in brake lights all good cheers

! Glad you could test it bad and fixed it! Total guess for parts on my part as I haven't so much as seen a Citroen since a restored 1964, 2CV if you recall what those were? I'll close out thread as solved to keep spammers out. Glad it worked out for you, T
