brake light fuse

1995 ford escort wagon 6 cyl . put in new fuse but when I hit the brake pedel the fuse blows

You have a short somewhere after the brake switch. You'll have to use a wiring schematic and a meter to locate the short.
Has there been any recent work done prior to this happening? Any aftermarket equipment such as trailer adapters, etc?
