post locked   blower motor will not shut off

hello. 2004 chevy silverado. 4.8l 11200 miles. a few months ago i was driving my truck. when i shut the truck off, the blower motor continues to blow. the only way to shut it off is to unplug the harness. any time i plug this harness back in the blower runs on full blast and cannot be turned off or adjusted with any of the switches. i am able to adjust the temperature of the air, and the switch for the ac also turns on and off. wondering if this could be as simple as replacing the harness or if there is likely a short somewhere in the wiring(which would suck).any ideas??? thanx

check your blower motor relay and see if its getting power and ground to the control side of it with the key off. If so, you have a short most likely in the control head itself. If not check for continuity on the load side. If it always has it without being triggered on the control side you have a bad relay. One of the guys probably has a nice diagram that they'll post showing your wiring and locations for you.

You need to replace the blower motor resister if it's a manual system and if it's an Auto temp control, then it will have a blower speed module in the same place.

blower motor resistor.dead on hammertime. swapped it out and everything works as it should. had to modify the mounting on the new one. looks like BWD flipped the mounts 180. fortunately the factory one had an outisde casing that fits around the part. just removed a few tabs on the new one and fit perfectly. thanks HT.

You shouldn't have had to modify that. You must have the wrong part but if it's working, don't worry about it.
