Sign In My son, who lives in another state , tells me his 2000 Dodge Stratus needs a new battery. He spoke to a repair person and was told it required removing the drivers side fender, costing $107 plus the battery. Is this correct ? AND Why would a car be mfg'ed requiring that much effort to replace the battery ? All replies welcome, Many thanks. But there is an access door that allows you to get the battery out. Why Chrysler did that is way beyond me. Needed more room in engine compartment I guess. I will forward your info to the kid ! Access door....then it sounds as if there is no need to remove the fender. Sad commentary on the state of our culture . Sign In The most that might need done is to loosen part of the plastic inner fender and pull it back to access the battery. Takes about 15 minutes. If the kid is mechanically inclined, they can do it themself with minimal tools and experience.
