2005 chevrolet impala 3400 series 2 v-6. it has 64597 miles. the problem it has is every once in a while the vehicle wont start, the engine is cranking and has spark but no fuel. I searched and searched and finally found that the wiring harness that comes out right where the battery and the under the hood fuse boxes is. From there it has a large connector that has some type of lever type locking system to lock the wiring harness to the next section of the wiring harness which goes back and along the firewall and into the cab of the vehicle where the heater is and from there it attachs to a box where the passenger side fuse box is located. So the area where I found the problem to be is right after the large connector there is a I think a gray or a white wire that feels real hard like at one point it could have been hot . this wire where it goes into it's half of the connector is not secure in the connector, I can pull on it and it slides in and out just a little bit , so I looked in the connectors pins and you can see signs of heat there, kind of a burnt discoloration excuse my spelling, so with car runnig I just tugged on the harness just a little bit and the engine start to drop off in rpm then starts to stumble then dies. So I try it again with the vehicle running and before it dies I push that one wire that explained about in the beginning and the engine just snapped right back running fine, turns out that wire is the wire that trigger the fuel pump relay I think Note : all the other wires are tight and secure in that large connector exept that one wire . So I changed the fuel pump just to be on the safe side thinking it might have been using to many amps or something which caused that wire to get hot. My problem is where can I find that section of wiring harness that's affordable? Or is there a way I can repair that one wire in that large connector? I want to thank you for your time with this novel I just wrote . rIcH cArGuY.

OK - easy with the run on paragraphs as they are hard to follow when not separated thoughts.

The good news is you've found the trouble spot or sure seems like it. IDK what happened there with this relatively newer car but it happened.

Plain cal and see if you can get that connector new - both ends and get good at soldering and shrink wrap over the splices then rubber electrical tape for added protection.

If GM or aftermarket doesn't have that exactly bet you can find a good one in a salvage yard from front end crash car and connector still excellent. Use ''dialectic grease'' for those and expect those bails (the thing the locks it together) to break as many do but a quality wire tie can keep it secure if needed.

Match this up new or used with same color marked wiring exactly - no games as there's no telling what could be damaged if not right.

If this was some old POS you could just fake it with what you have but I strongly suggest NOT doing that,
