Crazy Lighting Trouble Sign In

2004 Pontiac Grand Am 90,000 miles 6 cyl auto
Had a small fire due to loose headlight. Replaced housing and all lighting connectors, wires, and bulb. All lights work except the turn signals, sometimes the tail lights, and the instrument panel is out. Replaced bulbs, checked fuses all are good. What's up????

Not sure but perhaps the flasher wasn't pleased with the fire either! Do the lights light but not blink or nothing at all? Also - are directionals sharing the bulb for brake lights (or are rear directionals amber colored?)

Do 4 way hazzards work?

Turn lamps don't come on at all in front. Hazards work. rear turn lamps don't blink. Separate bulbs. I am going to check the fuses again. I did not check the ones in the engine compartment. I am going to try rewiring again, maybe my wire gauge is too big. Thanks!

Re: Crazy Lighting Trouble Sign In

Certainly verify all possible fuses involved but I still think the flasher is a possibility. It's sometimes a different unit from the one for the hazards - even if part of the same one I suspect a problem there as all power to the bulbs go thru it. If you used heavier gauge wire for any spliced in sections I don't think that alone would be a problem,

ok. got her all rewired with the correct wire and the hazards and turn signals still don't work. all fuses are good bulbs too. i don't know what else to check, unless there's a relay that bad, but how do you know?? Maybe some fuseable link somewhere?? i don't know.

Re: Crazy Lighting Trouble Sign In

Just plain take a test light to the unplugged flasher and see if power gets there. It may use just one flasher,
