Yay another issue

Alright i have a 87 blazer now it runs strong etc etc butttt when i turn on the running lights an the headlights the dash goes out.Random times it will flicker on and off.And Even at times when i touch the dimmer switch the dash will come on.i know it could be many things but my guess's are either the braided cable on the firewall or the dimmer switch it self.Just wanna get other opinions before i start tearing into this issue.

What about the lights on other things like the A/C and stereo? Are they working when the dash is out?

Headlights turn signals brakes ac + heater all work and i have taken out the radio since i thought that might be causeing a short because i power it on and it totally shuts off so i took it out hopeing to narrow down certain things.Now the weird thing is is that my turn signals on the dash stay on but when i use them they blink.I do have 1 blown turn bulb but that too i took out but there was no changes.

Sounds like there may be a ground wire missing somewhere in the dash.

sounds like you have a handle on it, either a ground or the switch, i've seen where the switch on these vehicles will cause some erratic operation

True, but a bad switch wouldn't illuminate the turn signal indicators.

A bad ground at a turn signal socket will do it .with indicator lit. take a test light , ground it to body , touch tip to SIDE of bulb. if test light lites up the socket has lost its ground.
