2008 GMC Sierra 4.8 135,000 miles .Windshield wipers quit after ice storm. Mechanic ran tests. He says not fuse, wiring, wiper motor or switch. Says possibly under hood fuse box

I sure don't know how he eliminated all those things and ended up blaming the fuse box. The wipers are ultimately controlled by the Body control module. The selection of speeds are done through a single wire after the switch selects a number of resisters that varies the voltage signal going to the BCM on that wire. the BCM identifies what speed is requested by reading the voltage on that line and then activates the motor accordingly. In order to diagnose this problem you are going to need a professional, high end scan tool and someone that really knows how to use it to troubleshoot the problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Merry Christmas - It seams something is missing in your post- some information maybe, But I agree that your 'mechanic' should NOT be lost in this repair.
