VW Passat Alarm	Sign In

VW Passat, 2001, 2ltr petrol engine , 89000 miles
My 2001 Passat's alarm has started to randomly activate when it has been standing locked. I can stop the alarm by remotely opening the locks, but the alarm starts again as soon as I lock the car either remotely or with the key. This means I cannot safely lock the car at anytime as the alarm may start up. Can the alarm be imobilised in any way?

Need to know if this is factory or aftermarket for anything. If aftermarket I suggest having it carefully removed and find some other way to secure the car if you really think you need an alarm at all. Many will have a way to leave them "un-alarmed" as for valet or service but might default if there's a power source break - even disconnecting battery for service should have a memory saver used.

In that it can just do this without provocation if mine it would be out of there - your car,

This is a factory fitted alarm. can they be disabled?

Wish I had all the software for all cars and don't. It should be able to disable entirely and if you don't have original paperwork or all that came with the vehicle new you may have to check with a dealer or an aftermarket alarm/stereo type place for just what to do. Good luck. Dang things are a headache when they get older and a real thief get the car anyway IMO,
