Temporary fix: Jumper wires on passenger side windows Sign In

1996
Toyota
Prado
100,000km

Hi guys, I have just imported the above car to Zambia. When it arrived the power window switches had been stolen. I have managed to source the switches for the the drivers side but not the front passenger side.

I am now able to control the driver's window and the back two windows from the driver side control. However, I cannot use the front passenger window. Is this because the switches are in series so the passenger window will only work if I add a switch or is that the replacement switch I bought is faulty?

Would I be able to control the passenger side window from the driver side if I add a few jumper wires to the passenger switch plug? There are five wires going into the switch plug. Any idea where I should place the jumper wires so I don't cause any short circuits?!

Obviously this will be a temporary fix until I can source a replacement passenger switch! Thanks in advance for your help.

This is not a US vehicle so we don't have any technical info on that vehicle but most cars are wired under the same principle. All power and ground feeds for the other doors go through the drivers switch first. That switch supplies power and ground but that varies in certain switch positions so you couldn't permanently jump anything.

Same - you can get that window up until the proper switch is found. Hope when taken nothing else was damaged in losing them,

NVM - figured it out. Just jump 1-2 and 3-4 as per this: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995_4rnr/toyota.4runner.1990.1995/FSM/95toypdf/95rmsour/1995/954runne/be/powerwin.pdf

Couldn't get that to show but not the issue. AYOR if you play around as said this exact set up isn't necessarily anything most of us could look up. If windows are up and only passenger's window isn't operating can you just put up with that till the switch comes?

It's not a photo Tom. It's just a PDF of the locations of the switches. Poster...... I think we know where the window switches are.

Wasn't expecting a pic and saw PDF but no problem, just said not available? Slight chance it wont jump without switch in place even a broken one - not sure. So if up I would just wait for switch. Who knows how important a passenger's window is for this person right now? Said already - hope it wasn't just yanked out or cut wires or who knows.....
