Strange Starting Problem

Hi,
I currently own a 1988 Ford TX3 hatchback 1.6L. Recently I have had some strange problems with the way that the engine has been starting.
When I go to start my car it acts as if the battery were dead. It wont tick over and just makes a single click noise. However, all the accessories work perfectly fine (radio, lights,etc). If I leave the accessories on for about a minute or two (I just sit and listen to the radio) then turn the accessories off and try and restart the car it starts perfectly, as if nothing had happened, without any trouble (not even as if the battery were a tiny bit dead).
I changed the battery about 2-3 months ago and thats when it started happening, but it would only happen every so often. Over the last week it has done it every time I go to start the car and the time I need to leave the accessories on before the car starts has slowly been increasing.
I dont drive the car a lot, usually on weekends, and my trips are usually no longer than 20 minutes. The car has done roughly 240000 kilometers and everything seems to be working fine other than this strange starting.
Any help would be much appreciated.

The "single click" symptom strongly suggests a bad battery connection. Takes lots of full power to start and diddle to run little lights and most radios.
Check, clean and replace as needed - cables at battery itself, and check both cables all the way to their destinations - starter for pos and engine for neg. May use a separate solonoid on pos cable to more to clean/check,
