Trying to trouble shoot starting problem, not getting anywhere. So did search on on internet and found this site. So hope someone can help me. When you turn switch on to start car, the starter engages then drops right back out. Any Ideas?? Starter is good, wire connections and battery good. Also have noticed the transmission indicator on dash is lighted but no bold indicator showing gear is in. Any relation to my problem maybe?

Check power on both terminals of the starter solenoid, the battery wire & trigger wire. If power is constant and doesn't drop out while the key is held in the start position, then you have a bad starter

Which terminal is losing power? What does the voltage drop down to?

No tach signal? Bad Crank Sensor? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Disconnect the wire off the solenoid & hook your voltmeter to it and see if the power still drops out when turned to the start positions.. Also I would hook a remote starter button up between the battery terminal & solenoid trigger terminal & see if the starter will crank over normal & start the engine..... If so hopefully one the guys will post you up a wiring diagram for the starter circuit and you can start at the ign sw if the voltage is still dropping out with the trigger wire disconnected from the solenoid
