I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado the security light stays on even after you turn off truck until battery dies

Check the BCM and IPC for trouble codes. You'll need an enhanced scan tool that can access those modules. Write down any codes. You also need to have the battery tested to be sure it is good. Then perform a parasitic draw test to find out which circuit(s) are using too many amps.

anything added to truck- audio, electrical. remote starter, anything not origional?

looking for a hint or clue that may help -

there is nothing added to the truck. it has a new battery. This problem started after the truck sat during the winter months.

If you just parked this without a battery maintainer over a Winter battery would go dead and if cold would freeze and new or not be junk already.

If so be careful as it could have leaked out acid and or be shorted inside itself self draining with nothing on at all in the truck but it does use minor current when off enough to go dead,
