Renault Espace wiper delay	Sign In

Can anyone please advise. The delay wipe has failed on my '95 diesel Espace. Is there a relay or something that can be replaced, if so does anyone know where it is located. The fuse controlling it has been blowing and now there is just continuous wipe on the delay setting on the stalk. Any ideas? The Haynes manual doesn't seem to mention it. Thanks in advance.
(I have put this on a Renault forum but have had no replies, so perhaps it's a stupid question!)

If the fuse is blowing, start by unplugging the wiper motor and see if the fuse holds. If it does, plug the motor in. If the fuse blows then, wiper motor has a dead short and must be replaced.
If the fuse blows with the wiper motor unplugged, you will need to start unplugging one wiper component at a time until the fuse holds. Then, the last thing that was unplugged is the cause of the short.

Thanks Steve. Since the delay (intermittent) wipe has stopped working the fuse has held. The wipers work fine at both speeds. Am I right in assuming there's a relay or something controlling the intermittent wipe that could be replaced?

Intermittent wipers are controlled by a module. If the problem is intermittent, usually is caused by either a chafed or loose wire, or a wiper motor that has a bad motor winding. Hard to tell without the vehicle here in front of me to do some tests.
