Random power outage Sign In

I drive a 2011 mistubishi galant.

I have seen no signs of power outage recently, no dimming lights, nothing.

Today I parked my car at home and rushed inside to grab something. Then only 2 minutes later I came out and tried to start my car and the lights didnt turn on and when I turned the key nothing happened.
Then the dash lit up and then slowly faded and I could hear a clicking noise from the fuse box. I pulled off the ECU (which is where the noise seemed to come from) and the noise stopped.
This was only minutes after I had just parked my car.

Now after playing with the battery trying to get it to start, the lights slowly turn from dim to bright when the key is in the ignition and the radio turns on. But when I turn the key all the lights go off and all the lights on the dash start blinking sporadically. The car wont turn over and nothing happens.

I havent seen any battery lights or indications that the ECU is bad on the dash.

What could this be?

My ideas are that it might be the alternator not charging my battery?
Could it just be a bad ECU?

Thank you.

Clean up and tighten battery cable connections at the battery. A 2011 they should still be good just may have been left loose or who knows? Easy pulling out fuses and things as this plain smacks of battery connections only,

Re: Random power outage Sign In

The battery is fine. Ive taken off the cables and they are clean. Tightened them as needed.

Ive been told this might be the battery by a friend but dont think so.
Anyone else seen this issue. The dash lights flicker when trying to start.

Ive gotten the car to start and my car was showing that my traction control was on and off at the same time. Plus my car was accelerating without my foot on the peddle.

Is this a sign of the ECU?

Im going to have my battery and my ECU tested tomorrow..

Partial quote from first post ">>when I turned the key nothing happened.
Then the dash lit up and then slowly faded and I could hear a clicking noise from the fuse box.<<"

FYI, starter motor is the largest draw on a battery and must both deliver the amps to starter motor while allowing all other functions to have enough for the whole rest of the vehicle to start, fuel pump and pressure and ignition need power while cranking too. Again this smacks of it being UNABLE to do that and odd things happen that are NOT the cause but the result.

If it looks good at common spots then it will take tests as to where voltage drops out. YOU said you turned the key and nothing happened then faded lighting regained brightness.

Things to test. Battery itself fully charged and load tested. Even a pass they can be intermittent inside self shorting. The outer bands of battery clamps should be the same with tests as the posts of the battery and bet when happening they are not no matter what they look like.

This will all begin with knowing the battery is fully up to par then follow the path to where it drops out WHILE it happens. Testing when all is well probably will not show anything,
