Hi there, I am installing a rear view camera in a 2004 Ford Escape and I have run into trouble?? I need to power the camera from the reversing lights but the two wires to the reverse lamps are not what I expected (1 active, 1 return), instead they are both active and one wire becomes inactive/dead when reverse gear is engaged. The camera get its ground from the video cable, therefore i just need to find a source of +12V that is active when reverse gear is engaged. Any ideas on where i might find this or any advice on using a diode or relay to get +12V when in reverse would be appreciated.

Then you would have to tap into the feed wire for the lights themselves. The switch probably triggers the lighting module first and that feeds the lights. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
