The battery cables were corroded so like a good father, I took them loose to clean them. I took the neg. loose first then the positive. After cleaning I reinstalled them in the reverse manner. I swear to God, that's all I did. Now the parking lights blink! The lights will blink four times then stop for a couple seconds then start again. The next time they might blink ten times. If you turn on the emergence blinkers the running lights will still blink. I might add that she bought it at a buy here pay here place. Is it possible they installed a tracking and cut off box in the system? That when I disconnected the cables, the box thinks that I was trying to disconnect the box? I am not a mechanic and never claimed to be. But I thought I could at least clean cables, Well I guess I was wrong. Any help would be appreciated. It turned out to be a factory installed system with a little black box with a button beside it. The people my daughter bought it from didn't get the key fob that goes with the system. Sabaru installs these systems and they change the location of the button every year. My daughter talked to a friend of her's that used to work for a car dealer and he said that sometimes it takes hours to find the button. I didn't get to try your suggestion but the next time I will give it a try to see if it work's. Thanks a lot, I sure am glad that this sight is here. I made sure and bookmarked this site.
