Out side temp. & compas

Hi- Ford F150 2002 1/2 ton Stanard cab p/u. Outside temp. started going off , next thing it was back on. maybe a day or two it would go out, etc. now it is out for the last couple weeks. It is mounted above rear view mirror in the head liner( I think that is what it's called) How do I access it and any suggestions what may be wrong? Thanks in advance for the info. Jim

I have found several with just one or more loose pins in the connector on back .
