First of all this is my first car and I am a complete novice when it comes to cars:
Opel Astra 1.6l 1993 petrol
So I was parking the car, hit the sidewalk at a low speed with the front of the car (and I do mean a very low speed, 1km/h or something like that, apparently the sidewalk was a bit higher than I thought) and 15 minutes later when I came back and started the car the Brake system warning light and the generator warning light were on (did not even know what those lights meant at first...), so I drove home - car performed as it always did, I think I would have noticed if there were no brakes.
It was a 2km drive and nothing else noteworthy happened other than that parking mishap.
So I am wondering what are the odds that this is purely an electronical failure of some sort where the warning lights are on when they are not supposed to?
Kind of hoping to fix something myself for once. My "car-enthusiast" friends are getting a little annoyed when I call them about every little thing.
