Nissan start problem

 2000 Nissan Maxima cranks but no start. Seems to be no spark. Dealer has tried five times to fix but no fix.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm? After 5 tries a dealer can only tell you "it seems to be no spark?" !! If they can't verify lack of spark with the car in front of them I don't know what we could tell you or suggest from here.
Do you plan on fixing this yourself now?

I may have to. The "seems to be no spark" comment is from me, not dealership. The engine cranks furiously, but nothing else. I am beginning to think fuel pump and am about to try starting fluid. I can hear the fuel pump trying to pressure up, but no start. I am of the older generation, having driven auto and trucks for approx 1 million miles, and this Nissan is the most aggravating piece of ^%$%^#^&((&%^^&* that I have ever encountered. I guess the most frustating thing is that Nissan simply does not care about quality products.

The problem is the service you are getting not the vehicle. As a company I'm sure Nissan cares a lot.
Have you tried an independant shop? This is not a rare car.
At any rate: See if you can verify spark yourself. I'd like to see if you get spark at the plug wires at the plug. There are some in line things that blink with the spark which are handy.
Start there and with you hearing the fuel pump let's wait on that till we know about the spark,

Thanks for your reply. I now have the car running. I injected starter fluid. Nothing happened at first, but on repeated efforts (2) it kicked off. I was leaning over the air filter inlet and when the car started, there was a backfire (or fuel explosion) into my face. The started and restarted several times. It has been idling very smoothly for about 30 minutes now. I am about to give it another try. I can't hardly believe this will be a permanent solution.

Hey! CAREFUL WITH THE BACKFIRE IN THE FACE!!
Hope you are ok. Good that the car is running. From here I can only suggest adding some fuel injector cleaner/solvent -- just 1/3 to/1/2 of what they say on the container -- they like to sell product and that stuff can help with things but too much can screw things up too.
Next is to just up and replace the fuel filter. If no CEL light and runs well brave it with your starter fluid till you do or don't feel comfortable that this problem is over.
BTW, then you use starter fluid or other means to prime an engine it's best to reassemble the air cleaner assy as it works as a spark arrestor and can keep you from getting burnt.
Did that dealer that failed 5 times somehow not try this trick? Geees!
