I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE and when you remove the key from the ignition, all the dashboard lights display and the cooling fan remains on until such time that you remove a cable from the battery to shut everything off. The dealer is stating that it "could" be an electrical problem and it would run $95/hr with a minimum of 5 hours to determine the problem. The car runs fine except for this problem. I was told by a mechanic that it was probably the ignition switch and so I purchased the switch and the dealer stated that it was not the problem. The battery is also brand new. I really need some help if anyone can put me in the right direction. I don't have $500 just to find out what is wrong and my daughter needs the car to get back and forth to school. Thanks in advance for any help!!!

You need a new dealer big time! $95 buck x 5 hours for diagnosis! Did they tell you not to install the new ign switch and you didn't?

I'd think that's the right direction for the problem. The switch just isn't telling the car it's OFF is a likely reason for this,

Re: Nissan Electrical Nightmare Sign In

I appreciate your response and somehow I think you're right. I don't think this dealer was too interested in even helping with the repair and they called me back too quick after dropping off my car. I'm going to go ahead and have the ignition swich replaced as I have bought the part already so all I would really lose now is labor cost. Maybe already having the part pissed them off as they wouldn't be able to charge me their part pricing which was about $100 bucks more. I hope this works.

Thank you!
