Mazda MPV w/new battery won't start Sign In

2002 Mazda MPV 89,000 miles, automatic, with DOHC-24V 60V, 6-cylinder engine won't start again. Please help. Here's the story:

The car wouldn't start. Had 4 year old battery. Every indication it needed a new battery. I took it to Sears. Got a new Gold Die Hard put in. It worked great except after the new battery was put in the Radio/stereo player no longer worked. It turned on. Told the time and the station, but no sound. After driving it for about a week the radio started working again.

Sidebar: Years ago when I plugged in my cell phone charger at the spot near the radio it blew out the fuse of the radio. So, I replaced the fuse never did that again. I could use other places on the car to charge stuff, but not that spot.

Back to the story:
About 2 weeks after I got the new battery the car would not start after I'd left the car in the garage for 48 hours without starting it. (normally I drive it every day.) I had it jumped and drove it back to Sears. They checked it and said it appeared to be working fine. It did appear that way. Everyone suggested I'd left a door open or a light on somewhere and it drained it. I didn't think so, but it seemed reasonable that maybe I had but didn't notice.

Then, 2 weeks later I left the car in the garage again for 48 hours without starting it. Dead again. I called AAA out and they jumped it for me and ran a test on the battery that said the battery had a dead cell. Their test said there was no abnormal parasitic drain on the battery. So, I took those test results back to Sears who took the battery out of the car this time and checked it. They found it did not pass their test and put in a new battery. No charge.

It's been a month and I didn't drive it again for 48 hours. Guess what? Now it doesn't start. I called Mazda and was told to take it back to Sears since it's under warranty. I was told by Mazda it's probably another battery with a dead cell. OR, maybe I left a light on somewhere. (Which I don't believe I did.) The Mazda guy said this is not common. He said the battery light should come on if for some reason the battery wasn't charging up when I was driving. He said maybe it has something to do with the starter. He didn't know. He was very nice. Everyone's been very nice. But nobody knows anything.

I dont' know. Do you know?

Have you tried an Exorcist?

It's awful hard from a website but there are clues here. One bad battery I'll except and if station presets and clock were correct when battery was replaced and they should be using a "memory" saver which can be by putting some current into the port that went nuts with the cell phone back when and bet they used that and something to do with that happening between power port or cig lighter lies the clue. If no memory saver is used most vehicles would lose clock time and radio presets just for the time it takes to swap out a battery - even just a second in some.

If you just gave up using that port because of the issue back when for another the clue is stronger that there's a funky problem right there which would be behind it with wiring that has a problem. I can only guess but with that history you about must have an excessive drain and that's where I'd be looking,
