2003 Malibu 3.1L 4dr One Owner 37,000 miles, like new.
After security issues about four months ago I bypassed the security system with a resistor. Everything worked just fine until about a week ago and it started the same security issues. So I decided to go back to the original setup without the resistor. I disconnected the battery and changed the ignition switch and lock cylinder. I used the old lock and key, the switch and cylinder was new factory GM parts. I scanned and cleared. It will start but then its dead. Now I can't get it to start the relearn. The security light flashes a few times then stays on...I tried several times and waited at least twenty minutes each try. PLEASE HELP!

Once you had the sensor bypassed would be permanent. It sounds like something else in the circuit has failed and you will need a tech2 scan tool to be able to diagnose it.

Hammer Time thanks for the reply. Just one follow-up question. Is the GM lock cylinder and lock kit a matched set.... or is it OK that I used the old lock?

Which lock doesn't matter as long as it's working properly. You just have to do a relearn whenever anything is changed.

One last thing you could try before going back to head scratching. Disconnect both battery terminals and touch the cable ends together. This will discharge all of the capacitors in the modules and maybe give you a chance at the relearn?
Shot in the dark but what is there to loose?
