Lights coming on of their own accord

Hello. Some odd things are happening with my 1993 Peugeot 206. Turning out of a junction the other day, I noticed the dashboard backlighting come on for a couple of seconds. More than once I've arrived home and seen a light reflecting off the garage door. In all cases, it's been daylight so I've not had the lights on. I've had a few flat batteries over the last 2 years or so. True, it's a low-mileage vehicle but it should be used enough to keep the battery strong. I'm wondering if there's some sort of electricity 'leakage' here. Does anyone have any suggestions, particularly about the lights apparently having a life of their own? Kind regards.

This car not sold where most of us are but shouldn't matter. Some ideas are if this car has automatic "headlights" to turn on when dark the sensor could be part blocked, dirty. Are there any other features that would automatically turn on headlights? T

Has your car ever been submerged in water?

Thanks, Tom and Nick. I don't know if it has an 'auto headlight' feature - I'll check the manual. Certainly never been submerged...

Will this stay like this long enough to try some things? If so perhaps try wiggling the main switch that would put them on. If that makes any change it would be a good place to chase down or possibly the switch itself. General: Most so called American vehicles the headlights will stay on if manually put on. Some may shut just headlights out and leave "running" lights on. It's a bit older than some tricks in place now or coming like if you wipers are on headlights will come on as well. A law in some places to do such. Other things might be some alarm or antitheft something that would make them flash when enabled or disabled. If it used to do that normally maybe whatever the part that does that gets stuck? One thing is if it refuses to act up while testing things it will be difficult to be sure of the cause, T
