LOOK WHAT I FOUND!

i have a 1995 dodge caravan w/ 3.0. recently i replaced the crank and
cam oil seals, timing belt, waterpump, etc. of course, you have to
remove all the accessories and what seems like 1/2 the engine to do
this. every thing went well (after some trial and error), but when i
was through, there was a small grounding strap laying under the van i
had obviously dislodged, and i can't figure out where it came goes.
this thing is about 6 inches long, about 3/8 an inch wide WITH CLIPS
(NOT EYE CONNECTORS FOR BOLTS) ON BOTH ENDS, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE
IDENTIFY THIS THING AND TELL ME WHERE IT GOES? TICKED OFF IN
TALLAHASSEE.

It's likely a ground strap between the engine and body. If you can't determine the exact spot it came from, it wil do the same job if it's mounted anywhere between the engine and body.

i don't think it's a main ground : first, b/c of its size (6" long, 3/8" wide and maybe a 32nd thick), but also b/c it is connected to whatever by clips, not bolts or screws. I think this is more likely going to some component. i thought since it had clips and was about 6" long someone with experience w/ this particular make/model would know where it goes.

I'm telling you it's a ground wire. It's a flat braided strap and I believe it runs from the motor mount to either the engine or the body.

? "Clips!?" IDK, it might have been left on by another for testing something. Hard to believe OE would use clips but never say never. As HT said it would be most likely just connecting ground of engine to body. If it does something wrong now without it I'd put one on with eyelets myself...........

I used to own the exact same vehicle. That ground can go anywhere you want and it will do its job as HT mentioned. It just slides on somewhere convenient. By now I'm sure it and its mounting locations are quite corroded. Just buy a new strap and bolt it somewhere easy to get at near a motor mount. Shine up the surface with some sandpaper first. Motor mounts are rubber in the center and this ground just helps tie in the body electrical ground to the engine. Not a big deal to change and you don't have to put it on any certain place to do it. Glad to see you are paying attention to details when you are working on your car.

Like i told him earlier, I believe it clips onto the motor mount.
