Jeep Libery dashboard problems

Jeep Liberty
My friend's car, so I don't have all the information I should have. She wants to take it to a mechanic and I'm trying to save her some money. Her lights on her dashboard and right taillight keeps going out. We've changed the fuses several times. It'll work for a day or 2 and then go out again. Anyone have any idea what's going on?

I would suspect the headlight switch. its the only item I can think of that both those circuits have in common. The mechanic she takes it to, if experienced at the least, will come to the same conclusion. Honestly, I have had a lot of people telling me about car trouble who know little to nothing about it and want to say what someone else said it might be. It does truly infuriate all mechanics to be told their job like that. If she is going to a good shop with reputable and experienced people this will be narrowed down very fast and the repair will be quality. My advice is to let the man with the car in front of him do his job. But realize the best shop isn't the one with the lowest hourly rate. Its the one that has the best and most experienced people. Repairs come in three categories: good, fast, cheap. A good, fast job won't be cheap. A cheap, fast job won't be good. A good, cheap job won't be fast. Just realize that if a shop is going to look at it there is nothing to gain by asking a bunch of people nowhere near the car. It will save her not a dime. She needs to find a good shop and defer to their expertise.

I would have a different suspicion here. I would suspect a short in that rear tail light. The tail lights and dash lights share the same power supply fuse as a safety thing so if you lose your tail lights, the dash lights will warn you. If the tail light causes the circuit to blow a fuse, it will take the dash lights with it.
You might try simply unplugging that light and see if the fuse holds up for a while. Just do this in the day time so it's a little safer.
