Cooling fans not working after replacing them and the wiring harness. Any suggestions?

Re: Infiniti FX35 Sign In

You're not going to get any help with that small amount of info.

No year
What's been checked or tested and how?
Have you tested all the fuses with a test light?
Did you check for power and ground at the fan before replacing it?
What's your skill level to do this testing?

Re: Infiniti FX35 Sign In

Thank you for responding. I have not done any testing in that area. It is not something I know much about. The condensor fan burnt up and wouldn't turn and since I couldn't get a replacement motor I bought/replaced the both. The harness ends looked a little melted so I ordered/replaced that too. It's probably a relay but it seems there are as many as 5 of them if I can find them. Sorry so dumb.

Re: Infiniti FX35 Sign In

OK, that helps a lot. Sounds like the old fan shorted out.

I think you are likely looking at a blown fuse but you still haven't given me the year so I can't look anything up.

Re: Infiniti FX35 Sign In

You're right and thank you for replying. It's a 2008 and it started with the condensor fan freezing up with a burning plastic smell. Since I could not get a replacement motor I replaced the assembly (2 fans) and wiring harness. Neither one will come on now. I haven't tested anything because I really don't know much in that aspect. I figure it's a relay at this point but there are several in different places.

Sorry for the duplicate. The first reply said it timed out.

Re: Infiniti FX35 Sign In

Yeah, they don't show as posted although they actually are.

It sounds like you have burned out at least one of the fusible links although they are all housed in a single part.

Re: Infiniti FX35 Sign In

So it's probably one of those relays? Do you know a part number?

Re: Infiniti FX35 Sign In

Where did you get relay from anything I typed?

Those are fusible links which are high current fuses and they are located right at the battery.

You don't need a part number. Just go to the dealer and ask for the fusible link block although these things should be tested before condemning them..

Re: Infiniti FX35 Sign In

A lot of us really appreciate guys like you who are willing to help others. I live in a rural area and the only local shop had the car a week and didn't even get to look at it because they are soooo busy. I'm afraid to drive it too far so I am trying to fix it myself.

Re: Infiniti FX35 Sign In

Sorry again.. one of the arrows pointed to a horn relay which I thought was a generic relay. Thanks for your time and effort.

The car will only overheat when it's not moving over 20MPH. As long as you shut it off when you come to a stop you will be able to get it to wherever you need to for repair.

The top picture shows the fuses that apply to the fan circuit.

Can anyone else confirm or give another opinion on this problem?
