Year of vehicle 1995
Make of vehicle (Ford/ Chevrolet) RENAULT
Model of vehicle ( Taurus/ Cavalier) LAGUNA
Engine size (2.0/ 5.7) 1.8 RN
Mileage/Kilometers 121K
Car purchased in last 4days, car in good working order full test etc. Bad rain and water leaked through the aerial into the sensor unit on the interior of the car, this is used for the remote central locking and also the imobiliser. The leak has been fixed and the unit dryed out, The remote will only be recognised every so often so on several occasions i have been left sat in car waiting for it to take effect and be able to then start then engine.
I am not a knowledgable person when it comes to cars, I would like to know if it is wise to replace the unit or if this would be a waste of time and money, Also if i did replace it would it be able to be used with the same key fob.
Also i have two sets of keys to which only one works both have fresh batteries in not sure as to why?
Any assistance would be fantastic?

May I suggest that at the age and miles you have this aftermarket stuff removed and resored to original condition as that junk is a common touble spot as time passes IMO,
