Where is the ignition switch located on this truck? I bought a Standard Motor Parts Switch part #US 108 as the replacement switch. Followed the Haynes manual for installing it, but all I can see is the key/lock assy.when I take apart the steering column as directed. There is NOTHING in the steering column area that even closely represents the part I have. It is a plastic connector assy. with about 10 electrical tabs(male) inside it, and is bonded to a steel backing plate with 2 elongated holes for mounting. This whole part is about 3 in. long by 2in wide by 1 in. hi. I can't even locate it in the wiring diags!!! Truck will not start... just clix (HARD)... diagnostics point to this switch as problem. ALL connections, Battery cables, are new. Starter, battery, chex out OK. Switched fender mount solenoid with new and used one I know is working. Can't locate this switch (US108) on the chassis. Any help will be appreciated. Daughters truck, 2 kids need to get to school/work!!! Much obliged,
Buggs

I'm confused about the ign switch????

You should be able to fake it all with key in "run" position and just jump the little wire to the starter. Careful, that's faking it, T

I don’t know if the ignition switch is going to be the problem or not but here’s a diagram showing where the switch is.
Usually if you here a click form the starter relay that tells us that the ignition switch is working. The click you hear; is it the starter relay on the fender?
Dan.

Dan : i cannot open your diagram! The relay on the fender is good. Put on a new one ...same result. I restore old VW's and know for a fact that this relay has been in use by Ford since the 50's. VW enthusiasts add it to high performance engines along with a VW Type II (bus) Starter to add xtra crank to the higher compression. I took the one I have off my "Herbie" copy (11.3 in 1/4 mile no lie!) and it did not change anything. The Xploder is a stick, and if I push start it, the starter will continue to run and not disengage. Cost me a $150 to find this out!!! changed starters and still same result. Could you please send me the diagram via e-mail to BuggsinAZ@Yahoo.com? Much obliged, Vince

The ignition switch sends current to a solonoid that makes the stronger power to the starter. Connections need to be good and a strong battery and good starter, T
