Hello. My check engine light bulb is burnt out. I cannot figure out how to get to the back of the instrument panel to change the light blub. I took off the part in front of the instrument panel. That led me to taking out the screws which would allow me to move around the instrument panel, but I cannot pull it out far enough to unplug any wires. I tried doing research and watched some videos of other people taking out the instrument panel on their cars. On ALL of the videos, they would remove a top panel in order to get to the back of the instrument panel to unplug the wires. My car is different. There is no top panel... There is one huge piece of plastic that is on the front dashboard that curves over to cover the top as well and I just cannot figure out how to remove that.. I hope this is not too confusing. I can clarify if you need to... My car is a 1993 Taurus SHO, 3.2L Thanks, Kyle

It will usually roll out enough to reach the wires. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Argh it didn't. The steering wheel was blocking it from coming out. I did manage it pull it out just enough to squeeze my hand behind the instrument panel and take out the light blub to replace it. It hurt, but at least I got it out.

Don't yank around on it too hard, you'll break the shift indicator cable retainer bracket. If it is an analog cluster, you have to go through the process of disconnecting the speedo cable, but it looks like you figured out a painful shortcut. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
