Toyota Sienna LE 2004, 70K, 6 cyl The motor to the rear (side, sliding door) passenger window died when the window was in the down position. I disconnected the connector to the motor to check (w/ volt meter) if the switch was working. It was. There is power getting to the motor. Assuming the motor is dead, is there a way I can put the window back to the up position & lock it in place while I am waiting 7-14 days for my new motor to arrive? (I was given est for used: $80, 1-2 week delivery) Will the motor on the driver's side fit the passenger side? Can I disconnect the motor from the driver's side and use it to raise the passenger window? thanx [sorry I posted twice. I didn't see this electrical section at first]

A lot of times it's the switch that goes bad. The switch basically just reverses the power & ground depending on if it's going up or down. 2 ways you can do this. If you can find out which is the power & ground wires. When you have the switch in the up position and know which wire has power one it, supply a different ground via a jumper wire to the other wire and the window should go up.... The more safer route would be to disconnect the harness from the motor. ground one wire and jump the the other wire with a fused jumper, if the motor doesn't move, reverse the wires & the window should go up.... Just use caution to keep out of the way of moving part........It's very easy to pinch something if you aren't paying attention.......

As I posted....The problems I have seen with the switches is on the ground side, not the power side. You've checked half the circuit so far. I just posted a suggestion on how to get a window up, definitely not the only way to do it.....(probably the easiest....I'm lazy like that..) Your route is a lot of work and that would really suck if it was a contact problem in the switch & not a bad motor. Cuz if that is the case, after all that work....... The window still won't go up. Before you pull the motor.....try banging on it with a hammer.....If it is a dead motor, a few good raps might be just enought to get it to work one more time..... Good luck to you......

Thanx much for all the info...and sorry for the long delay in replying (went on vacation with a laptop with dead battery & no power supply) Unfortunately, the motor is indeed dead. I did tap/bang on it many times before I decided to remove it, only to find the brush pads were destroyed. Luckily no one broke in while I was away. I may try the driver's side motor to raise it. thanx again
