Honda Accord Door Locks getting no power Sign In

I have a 1998 Honda Accord LX. Yesterday morning, when I got in the car the speedometer was not working and the car was idling rough at stops. I took the car to my mechanic and was told that the problem was a bad speed/distance sensor. The mechanic replaced the sensor and the car appeared to be fine when I picked it up right at closing time.

I drove the car home (about ten minutes away) and when I got out and went to lock the doors, I found that neither of the power door locks would work. No sound was made when flipping the switches, they just wouldn't work.

I took the car back to the mechanic today about thirty minutes before closing time and they checked the fuses and said they were all good. They were not able to diagnose the problem prior to closing so I will have to leave the car tonight so they can look at it tomorrow.

My question is this. Could someone working on the speed sensor have done something to have caused the power door locks to fail. The shop is already hedging around and saying that they don't believe that the door lock problem was due to anything they did but I find it hard to believe that something that hadn't broken in the eight years I've owned the car managed to coincidentally break during the nine hours they had it.

Any help on this would be most appreciated! Thanks.

Boy , this is a mechanics worse nightmare. You put on a set of wiper blades and the wheels fall off. All joking aside this is a time for an open mind and communication. It is unlikely that the work on the sensor directly caused the door lock failure . However they did quit working apparently while at his shop . Electrical things are good for suddenly dying . A light bulb works for years and one day POP. The starter on your car works in the morning and then leaves you stranded at work at 5 o clock. A common failure in this case is sometimes the wires in the link between the door and the body bend one time to many and break. Please allow the shop to check the car out . If it is clear that they broke something or left something unhooked he eats it .BUT if they show you something llke a broken wire be prepaered to step up and pay him for his time.
