Help with Jeep wiring: outlet installation... Sign In

Ok...the plan was to add a new accessory outlet to my Jeep in the center console. I drilled a hole, pushed in the new outlet, ran wires to the center console.
I then cut the wires to the standard accessory outlet and then connected the wires back together; all reds together, all blacks together.
Here's my problem...now I have no power to either outlet, I don't have power coming through the stock wiring after disconnecting the splices, I don't even have power to the fuse!!
I have replaced the fuse with no change, and, yes, I have tried this with the ignition both off and in the ACC position!!

What now to fix this? Do I have to dig deeper than the fuse box? Do I call it quits and go to the dealer? Any help is appreciated.

Yes, dig deeper than the fuse box and find where it gets power to begin with. Is everything else working or just this one circuit?

Yes, everything else is working well.
I am going to try again this weekend, and if I can't get to the bottom of it, I will punt to a professional.
I just don't want to go to the dealer and have to eat a crow sandwich.
Thanks for the reply, and I will update after the weekend.

Problem Solved!
There are two outlets in the Jeep-both in the dash console. I was trying to tap into the second.
There are THREE (?!) fuses in the box marked "power outlet #1, power outlet #2, and power outlet #3."
I had assumed that the second outlet was pulling form power outlet #2, however, I checked the #3 fuse: BLOWN!
So, replace the fuse and.....power to both the original outlet and the extra one I added for the rear passengers!

Thanks again.
