Getting information from ECU

Hello,
Is it possible to get digital information from the ECU by connecting additional wires to specific ECU pins and connect those wires to different MCU and program it to process the ECU information? I hope you understand what I mean.

Don't really understand what you mean.
What kind of ECU are you meaning?
What exactly are you trying to do?
MCU?

I'm trying to get rpm, injectors signals from car ECU and process them with PIC microcontroller and dislay on LCD. I am trying to make some kind of trip computer.

Yeah it's similar what I have in mind, but I also want to display temperature and rpm.

Look at your dash. They have gauges for that.

We already have that. It's called a scan tool.

Must of us on here repair vehicles and don't get that in depth in what you are wanting to achieve. Your best bet would be to talk to an electronics engineer.

If you want to say "I built it myself" Buy one and Reverse Engineer it. The russians did it with the B-29 after WW2 .

I've messed around with some electronics and built some small stuff. I get it, most of the fun is putting it together, testing your soldering skills on some small stuff and then seeing if it actually will work. My last project was a pressure transducer for my scope using a GM MAP sensor.....
Your best bet is finding an electronics forum. The kind of info you are looking for really isn't field service or DIY home repair stuff and that is what this forum is mainly about. Get the right place & you should have some fun.......
They use to have this mail order thing called Heath kits...... Electronic kits you would assemble, don't know if they are around any more but it was fun if you like soldering....

Heath kits were fun . Rodayo shack sold some . I built a 2 channel lab scope and used it for years in my shop as a eng analizer.

Just searched out Heathkit. OMG - re-opened in 2011 and closed shop March, 2012!
Pic wont show no doubt but they made tons of stuff including mini--bikes!
