Fuel pumpe relay fuse Sign In

I recently had a problem with the fuel pump relay fuse on a 99 Ranger constantly blowing. The problem was found and repaired. It was that the wires running to the fuel pump had rubbed to the wiring and caused a short thus the blown fuse. Now however I'm getting a similar problem in that the engine just shuts off while driving just like when the fuse was blowing. Now the fuse is not blowing but I can get the truck to start and run if I simply pull the fuse out and put in back in. Also, in looking at the fuse it has burn marks on the spades. My theory is that it is still the fuse that is causing the engine to shut off but why doesn't it blow and why are there burn marks? Any help?

You've pointed out the likely problem. The contact of the spades of the fuse to recepticle are poor. You could try twisting on the fuse's spades a little for better contact. This reminds me of the household problem with frequently used recepticles and the cord end of usually a vacuum cleaner that gets moved about routinely (well not at my houseWink) but I've heard of that!
