If the computer/power-train control module/PCM is shorted out, can that damage the fuel pump? While the heater core on the vehicle was being repaired, the PCM was touched with a hot wire that fried out the computer. The computer was replaced and the vehicle started several times after that. Within 2 days the fuel pump went out. Can that be related to the initial damage to the PCM?

I agree. Shorting out the engine controller, how ever that was done, would cause damage to the delicate circuits on the PCB and not the fuel pump. Curious..how was the fuel pump determined to be faulty? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
