Ford Explorer Radio Locked
|

|
I am currently in Iraq and driving a 2003 Ford Explorer. The problem is the Radio is locked (Error 13) does any body know what code to use to unlock it?? I would like to listen to AFN while driving around doing my job.... Thank you

If you can get the serial # of the unit I may be able to help you unlock it. It wouldn't be until tomorrow evening though. It will be a 6 digit number starting with a C, L or M.
If you are in a hurry you can try radio-code.com to get the code but they charge for this service...

Theres a chance that the reset code is in the owners manual packet ,if thats still in the glovebox.

Little bit of bad news on the code 13. I was mistaking it for a code 10..
A code 13 means there has been 13 attempts to enter a code and manual code entry is now locked out. The unit will have to be removed & electronically unlocked.
With anything that has a password or unlock code, it's not a good idea to try and find the code but guessing multilpe times until you "get it". Pretty much everything from cell phones to e mail accounts have some type of disable feature that will lock it out from manual entry after so many tries. This prevents an unauthorized person from sitting there trying to "guess" the correct password or code all night long.
A good rule of thumb with anything is after the 2nd failed attempt make triple sure the p/w or code is correct before proceeding & also finding out how many attempt you have before locking the devise/account out....
I've searched a little bit but haven't seen anything other than removing it & getting it electronically unlocked. There was one procedure I found but 3 out of the 4 replies said it didn't work & the 4th said nothing just rated it a 7 out 10 (probably the guy who posted the article).
