1998 Ford escort 1.8, ~80,000 miles. My car was running fine. Then one morning the battery was completely flat. No lights or the radio had been left on. So I tried to jump start it with jump leads. When I connencted the leads to the batteries, my indicators started flashing and a loud alarm noise started (there is no alarm on the car). I then tried starting the car and it started OK but the loud noise and indicators kept on. I guess there is a bigger problem than just a flat battery. Any ideas please? many thanks.

I think you will find that he car does have an alarm but it has been off and dormant until the battery went dead and that reset it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
