Electronic odometer problems, 2004 Honda Civic Sign In

The electronic / LED odometer on my 2004 Honda Civic EX has been eratic for about a year, blinking on and off, and lately it's off more than on. Sometimes blank for a couple of days. The mileage keeps adding on, but I cannot obtain any warranties on tires, etc. if they can't verify the mileage at time of purchase or time of repair. No mechanic has been able to give me any idea as to the problem or realistic cost, with ranges of a couple hundred dollars (loose wire) to $1000 (replace entire dash). All other dash readouts work fine.

Re: Electronic odometer problems, 2004 Honda Civic Sign In

I would think the problem is in the Instrument Cluster itself....

Possibly could be a faulty bulb and/or bulb socket connection.

I would take it to a facility that is certified in instrument cluster repairs.
When a shop removes an instrument cluster, they have to send it out to a certified repair facility as well.
Unless you feel you'd like to remove the cluster first yourself and check all the bulbs /connections...
