ELECTRIC WINDOW Sign In

I HAVE A 1989 CHEVY SILVERADO TRUCK, C-1500 5.7 LITER 350, 2 WHEEL DRIVE.
133,000 MILES.
PROBLEM: MY PASSENGER SIDE ELECTRIC WINDOW WILL NOT WORK. THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCK DOES THOUGH. I NEED TO KNOW IF THE POWER GOES THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE SWITCH AND THEN TO THE PASSENGER, AND IF SO WHAT COLOR WIRES FOR POWER, TO CHECK IF I HAVE POWER TO PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW MOTOR OR SWITCH. AS OF NOW NO POWER TO MOTOR ON PASSENGER, AND I CANNOT FIND ANY GOOD WIRING DIAGRAMS TO BE ABLE TO FOLLOW TO TEST MOTOR AND SWITCHES. IF POWER FIRST TO DRIVER SIDE, MAYBE SWITCH THERE IS NO GOOD, SO I CANNOT GET POWER TO PASSENGER, AND IF NOT WHY BOTH SWITCHES FOR PASSENGER WON'T WORK. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SWITCH WORKS FOR THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. HELP!!!

Re: ELECTRIC WINDOW Sign In

Yes, that is true. power for all windows passes through the master switch.

Here is your wiring diagram

Re: ELECTRIC WINDOW Sign In

I agree with you H.T.; yes power for all windows can come from and pass through the master switch but the passenger side switch also has its own power feed; the pink wire.
On the other hand all grounds for the circuit(s) are dependent on the master switch.
Have a look at this wiring diagram (Not as confusing as yours Hammer); these diagrams are drawn with all switches at rest. If you trace all the circuit(s), you’ll notice that all connections are to ground through the master switch; again when the switches are not being actuated.

Now let’s trace the circuit for the right window; when the master switch is toggled to the up position for the right window.
The path to ground has been taken away from that portion of the switch and is now connected to power (pink wire).Power from the pink wire can now pass through the master switch to the dark blue/white wire. Through the right side switch to the motor; from the motor back to and through the right switch to the Tan wire. From the Tan wire, to and through the master switch, to ground; completing the circuit. The window should now be on its way up.
The same for the down; just switch the connections from up to down; in the diagram below.

In the next diagram I’ve toggled the passenger’s side window switch to the down position.
Power from the pink wire at the passengers switch; passes through the switch to the motor. From the motor, back through the passenger’s switch; to and through the master switch and then to ground. The window should be on its way down.

Re: ELECTRIC WINDOW Sign In

TO BOTH OF YOU GENTLEMEN, THANKS ALOT, NOW TO DO IT, AND SEE IF IT IS THE MASTER SWITCH ON THE DRIVER PANEL.

Re: ELECTRIC WINDOW Sign In

First off what’s Mitchell??????????? LOL
The funny thing is; the above diagrams are put together using the same format that the manufacturer uses; you would almost think that they were, infringing on copy right laws.
We wouldn’t want to do that now would we?
Did you here that; that other repair data company is changing their name? Yea they’re going to call it SOME-DATA. LOL

Dan.

Re: ELECTRIC WINDOW Sign In

Mitchell has better diagrams than Alldata, plus a real nice mouse-over feature to follow a circuit.....
