Door lock actuator Sign In

I have to replace the door lock actuator in my 1995 F-350 Crew cab. I replaced one about a year ago. The problem is, I don't really want to drill out the very large pop rivet in the door that holds the solenoid in place. Is there a way to remove the solenoid from the holding bracket without breaking it? Thanks, Bill

Re: Door lock actuator Sign In

Doesn't matter but it's a motor that spins creating a push pull action on the rod. If like some others I've done it's held in with a nylon bracket and rubber bushings and they can be removed from that bracket but it can break too. Hard to get a good grip for doing that on many. If you drill out the rivot, the exact rivot is best to replace but I have been able to do it with a stove bolt and nut - real short to fit,

Spray lubricant on it till it slips out of your fingers when you try to hold it. Should pop out of one side and remove the other pin from rubber bushing.
