Dash cluster lights intermittent/gear shifting

1986 Mazda B2000 2.0/4cyl, 5 spd manual. Some issues im haveing is the dash lights are intermittent, sometimes they are on and most of the time they are off. its not connected with just turning the headlights on and off. i turn the headlights on and sometimes the dash lights up, if it does they will go out even though the headlights are still on and then come back on while im still driving. Another issue, and im not sure if its related is when i switch gears going up (from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd etc) i lose acceleration and the rpms drop to zero but usually kicks back in and drives normal after a few seconds of no power. when this happens the tach is oscillating prety wildly. and sometimes the engine just dies and i have to crank it back up. also the radio doesnt work either but im not worried about that. the only electrical thing that has been replaced is the ignition start switch wiring.
