Dakota break lights not working + ABS alert Sign In

1997 Dodge Dakota, auto, 6 cyl 3.9L

I do have all my lights working except for the rear brake light and rooftop light when you depress the brake with your foot itself. I have replaced every bulb with a new bulb in the both tail ights including the cargo roof top bulb. I can't find if there are any applicable fuses.

Can anyone help with this "simple" problem ?

Also, does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get the ABS/Parking break warnings on the dash to "disappear". I believe my ABS sensor is okay and I'm not getting any diagnostic fault indications when I run the OBD II scan. Fuses are all good.

Why does everyone declare their problems as simple?

You do not have a simple problem at all. In fact you have multiple issues. You have codes stored in the ABS module and that toy code reader isn't going to help you a bit. It requires a professional scan tool updated with ABS software. The lighting issues could get complicated too since the vehicle uses some lighting modules.
Don't look for a 5 minute cure for this.

I should have mentioned previously

1. the problem with the brake lights not working is new.

2. The ABS problem has been there for some time.

They could be related, just ran the scanner and it did not pick up an electrical type fault or any other fault for that matter :(

help !!!!!

All electrical problems have to be resolved the same way, by following a wiring diagram and testing circuits to isolate the source of the problem. The ABS fault will requires a factory scan tool as I already stated.

slade; I'm really confused. Dakota, Windstar? Which is it? Check the master cylinder level in the Dakota. Check the brake light switch. The Windstar? Start a different thread. Too confusing.
