DTC codes and double dome lighgts blink Sign In

Gents,

2007 Acura TL Type S with 3.5 Vtech started having issues with electrical system and possibly MICU.
Post the engine startup and about 9 seconds into the run dome lights blink twice (once long and once short) and several DTC codes get and displayed on driver's information display. Everything works except display itselft bugging me with codes blinking. Codes are related (based on my research) to MICU loosing communication with specific control units but actual units operate normally. Codes are B1005, B1006, B1007, B1008, B1010. Strangely when the head lights switch is set into on position of auto lights get turned on due to external lighting condition, all symtoms go away and 9 seconds after turning headlights ON codes disappear and all is happy. If codes exist even during driving and head lights come on - codes clear and display returns to normal content.

I checked all wiring including relays as this appears as one of the relays supplying power failure to maybe circuit powering MICU, via accessorial circuit and nothing appears to be causing change. I know from other forums that some people experienced the same problem and replacement of MICU (about $ 290.00 in parts) do not cut the cake or fix the problem. Do you guys have any idea where I can possibly even start troubleshooting ? Acura TL 2004 service manual takes me for a ride with all coded and reported ICUs but they work so there is possibly nothing wrong with them?
I know that usage and testing by dealer using DHS will cost me arm and two legs and I am attempting to fix it or at least get ideas on my own.

Your thougths and help are greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Chris from Chicagoland -

Re: DTC codes and double dome lighgts blink Sign In

Seems the MICU is losing communication with all the modules it is supposed to communicate with as you stated. Network communication problems can be a pain to figure out unless you have the factory scan tool so you can access all the modules in the vehicle or to do a full dtc scan to see if there are any other bus codes lerking. Running some bi-direction control commands with the factory scan tool at the MICU may reveal some hints. Seems that the relay control module is communicating with the combination switch module because the headlamps come on. But that doesn't mean those modules are communicating with MICU who is looking around and saying, "where is everyone?". Sometimes you have to get technical and o-scope out the data bus to look at the CAN signal at the MICU itself. You have a tough one there.

Forgot to mention on some other Honda products MICU is susposed to use the dome lamps to flash trouble codes when the diagnostic terminal in the fuse block is jumped. Kind of odd for the dome light to flash when MICU isn't being put into diagnostic mode...hmmm.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
