Cruise Control not working '99 Grand Am Sign In

'99 Grand Am 3.4 128 K. The cruise will work if I hold the ON button on the steering wheel; dash indicator comes on and all works fine until I let the button go and then the crusie shuts off. Any ideas what control may be at fault here?

From what you've posted, it sounds like the power button is worn out and not making contact.
If there is enough room a cheap bypass would be to try to wedge a little piece of paper into the switch to hold it on........

Yea I've wedged a penny beside the button and that works. The button's little green light is on so it has power there... just wont stay on once I let it go...? Is there something behind the button like a pressure switch or is it just an on/off contact type? Is there anything to repair behind the button? Is there another relay or something that is'nt holding the circuit on ? Rather have a fix than a band-aid.

The switch isn't serviceable, to fix it correctly you would need to replace the switch....
