Prenote: My automobile knowledge is minimal, but I will be willing to research whatever measures are suggested to me.
Recently while driving I noticed that whenever I hit my brake pedal my van would make a sort of rough vibration when it came to a stop. This didn't always happen, it was only occasionally. After this went on for a while, the first jerky stops were accompanied by a battery and brake light, which, through the years, I've always been told referred to an alternator problem.
The alternator was recently replaced right after the van came into my possession 3 months ago and I've had no problems with starting up or anything of the sort.
Anyway after only a couple drives with this occasionally happening, the battery would be too drained to start up again. It would get to going after a jumpstart, but the problem would persist. On what was my last ride home (made it thankfully), I had my headlights on and was driving down the road. I noticed that when I hit my brakes, my dashboard lights and headlights were dimming significantly from something draining my battery. I pulled into my driveway and didn't even have to shut of the ignition as the van shut itself off shortly away from my parking spot. The brakes comfortably functioned as I came to a halt.
It is currently undriveable as the battery drains so quickly after startup that I cannot pull out of the driveway. This only happens when I hit the brake pedal. As soon as I hit that brake pedal everything just drains as though my battery were hooked up to a colossal metal pillar.
To ensure answer accuracy, I will satisfy all questions asked of me to the best of my ability. At the very least I would like some combined opinions that may keep a repair technician from scalping my ass off.
Edit: We changed the battery which more or less "renewed" the cycle of the problem

The advice is pretty obvious, have the charging system tested.
