Ciggerret light not working, fuses replaced, still no joy Sign In

Hello,

The ciggarette lighter is not working in my Golf 2002 1.6.
I have tried replacing the fuse, no good, I notice there was a 20 not 15 fuse in the ciggie lighter place, would this have messed it up? It doesn't seem to be the fuse so can you give me any advice on how to continue?
I need the socket to charge GPS etc and there doesn't seem to be a socket in the boot of my golf either, a 1.6 2002 Golf.

How much would it cost to get this fixed would you guess, is it fixable?!

Kind regards

Alice

You need to buy a 12vc test light . They are not that much and its the only way to tell if you have pwr TO the fuse . could be a bad ground or defective socket . A 20a fuse in a 15a circuit willl cause no harm.

Test as RT suggests: To add - if easy enough swap that out for a power port instead of a real cig lighter which don't work as well and if used for cigarettes (sounds stupid as that what the idea was) they go bad fast. I smoke and have never touched the lighters and added a real power port so I can shut the damn ash tray which I won't use eitherCrazy Cup holder ash trays are much better and safer and don't stink up the car,

buying a test light was my 2nd choice . 1st choice was a ac square wave rectified variable amplitude emf discreminator analog display . BUT I figured he had one of those.Unsure
