Cigarette light port problems Sign In

Hello all.
95 Subaru Legacy Wagon

I am having problems with the cigarette lighter port. No accessories that I plug in work. I just bought a new port too, and plugged it in, and got nothing.
The port has an odd 3 way plug, then another little wire that plugs directly onto the back end.
I will try to get pictures soon.
I tried multiple devices as well, and all work in other cars.

Check that dead center of bottom is 12v positive and the sidewalls are ground with a test light. The other wire is no doubt for a light.

IMO (and I smoke and never use them) they are horrible for lighting and lousy as power ports which you could get instead and fit in the same hole. They work much better for all the stuff you might charge or use it for.

Watch out for any of those that get left open/exposed as then catch coins and stuff that shorts them out. Get a plug or something to cover the hole. In fact if used to light cigar/cigarette they used to rust and fail pretty quickly,
